01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Bar 2nd opens its doors with an engaging ritual: guests buzz the building intercom, state the passcode found on the bar's website, and are let inside. Up the stairs, the room captures the warm, relaxed air of a traditional Japanese house, with Tokyo Tower in sight just beyond the window. Shelves of books line the walls, and the seating accommodates counter stools as well as low-table tatami areas, making it just as easy to settle in alone with a quiet drink as it is to catch up with good company.

Vibrant Fruit and Aromatic Signature Drinks

The beverage selection centers on seasonal fruit cocktails crafted with peak produce. From the brisk tang of kiwi to the lush sweetness of blueberry, these pours deliver the pronounced texture and flavor of fresh pulp, and any of them can be mixed without alcohol. The repertoire also features inventive twists such as a shiso rum tonic and a fresh ginger Moscow mule. Guests have noted the shiso rum tonic for its distinctly refreshing palate, while the ginger Moscow mule is remembered for the lingering warmth it leaves after a sip.

Hearty Food for an Unhurried Drink

Though firmly a cocktail bar, Bar 2nd pays serious attention to its food. A daily rotating curry features a rich, deep profile simmered down with concentrated vegetables and tomato flavor, often ordered to round out the evening. A four-item appetizer plate brings together bites such as quiche and ham, and the table cover charge includes access to an assortment of savory snacks and sweets that guests can freely choose from. With desserts like baked churros on hand as well, you can graze at your own pace while nursing a drink.
